Home About Us News Spring Cleaning Started Early In The Shops
The shops have been taking advantage of the annual winter/spring lull to get jobs done and host some community groups.

August to October is a quieter time for shops.  It's rare to have any downtime so this lull provides an opportunity to get some jobs done - like getting into the corners that are usually stacked high with donations and some early spring cleaning.

Vogel Street got some help with sorting and cleaning from five Otago University science department staff. There as part of the university’s social impact leave, which allows staff to volunteer during work time, they sorted 30 boxes of linen and cleaned all our homeware shelving - in just one morning!

It wasn't all cleaning at Vogel Street:

The Otago Polytechnic foundation design course had students come and choose garments from our racks for a styling assignment. We have done this for the last five years and it's great for the shop to have a collaborative relationship with the design school. Stay tuned for photos of the results.

We also had urban sketchers spend a few hours sketching the shop interior, They really enjoyed the space and the results speak for themselves.

Despite this being a quieter time of the year Oamaru sales are getting back to where they need to be now they are back in the hub, customers, staff and volunteers are loving it. Our Mosgiel Shop is filled to the brim and always busy, and Wanaka is continuing to be a hit with the locals.

We also had an amazing donation of two brand new washing machines for the Milton and Alexandra shops from the Portobello chapter of BNI. This has been incredibly helpful for these two operations and the first time either has had proper washing facilities. Bring on the spring cleaning!
