There have been a wealth of anecdotes from OCH staff about the value of the podcasts for their patients and their whānau, but one stands out.
A daughter was living overseas when her father joined the hospice service. She couldn’t help her mother with the day-to-day tasks and stresses of looking after him, which was super hard. But then she discovered the podcasts.
She said being able to listen to the podcasts made her feel engaged and she could share the information she learned with her mother.
When she finally managed to make it back home she felt equipped and ready to help her mum with her dad’s care.
