Volunteers
Volunteers play a crucial role in the operation of the Hospice.
In any one week, over 50 different individuals will provide support on a voluntary basis.

Here is just a taste of what volunteers do for us.
Kitchen: During the week, the Hospice Food Supervisor is responsible for providing meals for
patients. Volunteers assist in the kitchen by serving meals, dishwashing, delivery of morning/afternoon teas and preparation
of food for lunch and evening meals. Volunteers also manage the complete weekend food service at the Hospice.
Cleaning: The Hospice has a paid Housekeeper to clean the inpatient area during the week and volunteers
assist with the cleaning of the Day Hospice and administration areas. During weekends, it is the responsibility of volunteers
to manage the cleaning of the inpatient wing only.
Flowers: Volunteers maintain floral arrangements in patient rooms and throughout the Hospice.
Shop: Volunteers do not need to have had previous retail experience as new staff are shown how
to use the till and given guidelines on shop procedures. Working in the Hospice shop involves serving customers, keeping
the shop tidy and clean, as well as sorting and pricing goods. Volunteers work as part of a team to make the shop
successful and raise as much money for the Hospice as possible.
