Hospice Awareness Week celebrates little gestures!

During Hospice Awareness Week, 14-20 May, 2012, the Otago Community Hospice is proving “little gestures do GREAT things” and we’re hosting a week of exciting events to help raise fund for this much-needed cause.

Highlights include:

• FREE pampering from Aoraki Polytech students in Dunedin’s Golden Centre Mall all week;
• the lucky winners of our TradeMe auction’s body painting of OceanaGold Nuggets at Dunedin’s Golden Centre Mall;
• the winners of our TradeMe auctions body painting the Highlanders at Angus Café and Desserts;
• a cocktail evening and auction hosted by the Temple Gallery
• buffet meal and haggis ceremony hosted by Owen Rooney

On Friday, keep an eye out for our street appeal collectors all over the region. Hospice care and support is provided free of charge to anyone who needs it, regardless of age, race or religion. The Hospice is an independent charitable organisation and we rely heavily on Hospice Appeal Week for donations.
Hospice Appeal Week is a great opportunity to celebrate amazing support we receive from the Otago community. We aim to help people make the most of their lives and we couldn’t offer specialist palliative care services if it wasn’t for the generous support of our sponsors, volunteers and friends. To the entire Otago Community, we thank you.

Living Every Moment with BODY PAINT, local sporting heroes and Otago Community Hospice!

During Hospice Awareness Week May 14-20, 2012, the Otago Community Hospice is proving “little gestures do GREAT things” and we’re looking for people to body-paint local sporting heroes from the Highlanders and the OceanaGold Nuggets.

You can now bid on TradeMe to become one of the lucky people to paint our Highlanders OR one of the chosen OceanaGold Nuggets.

From the Highlanders, you could bid for the chance to body paint James Haskell, Talusa Veainu or Hosea Gear!

You could also place a bid to body paint OceanaGold Nuggets Mark Dickel, Akeem Wright, Ethan Carruthers, Damon Cleverley. OR you might like to bid on the opportunity to be body painted yourself or have someone you know body-painted by a true Hollywood Body-paint artist? The body painting will happen during Hospice Awareness Week.

There are plenty of little gestures you could make that could do great things towards helping Otago Community Hospice raise the $1.5 million they need to keep running each year.

Visit Dunedin’s Golden Centre Mall during Hospice Awareness Week for a relaxing treat from Aoraki students of Hair, Beauty & Massage in return for a “Little Gesture” to the Otago Community Hospice. Donate clothing to the Hospice’s Butterflies shops, host a carwash, make muffins and sell them at work, do something lovely for a complete stranger or take a treat to a mate or family member. We believe gestures like these keep the good energy flowing in Otago.

VW lovers share the love

Over 300 people headed to the Forsyth Barr Stadium on Sunday for a Volkswagon event that brought 'VW nuts' together.

Treasurer of the Otago Volkswagon Enthusiasts Club, Chris Timms helped organised the event and the collection for Otago Community Hospice at the gate. A total of $2,935 was raised for the hospice.
